What is the eligibility criteria for B.Ed admission at CTE Namrup?
Candidates must have at least 50% aggregate marks in Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, or Commerce from a recognized university. Engineering graduates require at least 55% marks. All candidates must appear and qualify in the B.Ed Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Dibrugarh University.
How many seats are sanctioned for B.Ed admission?
CTE Namrup has an approved intake capacity of strictly 50 seats (one basic unit) as recognized and sanctioned by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
What is the Dibrugarh University B.Ed Common Entrance Test (CET)?
The B.Ed CET is a mandatory university-level entrance examination conducted annually by Dibrugarh University. It evaluates candidates on General English, General Knowledge, Reasoning, and Teaching Aptitude. Admission is allotted strictly as per the university merit list.
Is there any relaxation in qualifying marks for reserved categories?
Yes. A 5% marks relaxation (i.e. minimum 45% aggregate) is granted to candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, MOBC, and PwD categories. In-service teachers with at least 5 years of recognized teaching experience also receive a 5% relaxation. Only one relaxation category may be availed.
What documents must be submitted during admission verification?
Candidates must present original and self-attested copies of: HSLC Admit Card (for age proof), Marksheets & Certificates from HSLC to Graduation/Post-Graduation, Dibrugarh University B.Ed CET Scorecard, Category/Caste Certificate (if applicable), Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC), and recent passport-size photographs.
Can graduates from other universities outside Dibrugarh University apply?
Yes, candidates from other UGC-recognized universities can apply. As per Dibrugarh University norms, 85% of total seats are reserved for students graduating from Dibrugarh University affiliated colleges, and the remaining 15% are open to candidates from other recognized universities.

What is the duration and structure of the B.Ed program?
The B.Ed program at CTE Namrup is of 2 years duration, structured into 4 distinct academic semesters. Semesters I & III are conducted from July to December, and Semesters II & IV from January to June.
Is school internship and practice teaching compulsory?
Yes. School internship is an integral core component mandated by NCTE and Dibrugarh University curriculum. Trainees undergo extended practice teaching in recognized secondary partner schools across Upper Assam, gaining supervised classroom teaching experience.
What subjects and pedagogical specialisations are offered?
The curriculum covers core pedagogical foundations (Philosophical, Sociological, and Psychological perspectives) alongside pedagogy of school subjects (Assamese, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science), ICT in education, and inclusive pedagogy.
